Welcome to the Christchurch PACT website. You will find information relating to the PACT process in the Christchurch area and across each ward in Christchurch. This website itself is a new venture so please be patient while content is produced and information updated. In the meantime, please browse round the website. If you are wondering what PACT is and how it works, please read on....... What is PACT? PACT stands for "Partner and Communities Together" and is a new initiative introduced by Dorset Police along with partner agencies across Dorset including local councils, Fire brigade and Youth Workers as well as local councillors. Its aim is to encourage closer working not only between partner agencies, but also between these agencies and local communities (that means you!). Where is your local PACT area? The PACT process aims to make an impact locally, within your specific area. This is defined by the ward you reside in. This makes any issues you raise relevant to your area and dealt with by those agencies and persons that represent your area. What are PACT Panels? Each ward has its own PACT panel made up of local representatives that have an impact and interest in your area, such as your local ward councillors and your local Police team. The panels aim is to prioritise and deal with the issues that you as locals raise, and not necessarily issues that the agencies themselves think are important. The overall aim of these panels is to work with you and your local community to continually improve your community and make it a safe place to live. How does the PACT Process Work? The panel will achieve this through a mixture of public meetings, surgeries and street corner meetings. At these meetings, you will get to vote on (at a public meeting) , or submit a PACT postcard about, what priorities are important to you in your area. The top three issues raised in a given period (usually per quarter), depending on your ward, are given priority and the panel will aim to deal with these immediatley. Actions taken are then reported back at the next PACT meeting and often through local newsletters or other PACT Surgeries/Street Corner meetings in your area. Updates will also appear on this website and some in the local paper so keep a look out. |
